This is the all new Audi R8 Spyder 4.2 FSI quattro, which features the upgraded Audi EU5 V8 engine in conjunction with the coupe. The newest generation V8 engine from Audi features 430PS at 7,900rpm, 430Nm from 4,500 to 6,000rpm, a 0-62mph sprint in 4.8 seconds and drives on to a whopping top speed 186mph.
The fully automatic lightweight fabric hood helps to minimise weight in conjunction with Audi Space Frame aluminium construction enhanced by additional carbon fibre composite panels, which bring lightness to the frame. This also means a lower centre of gravity. The Spyder will never be as sharp as the Coupe but it’s perhaps even more of an attractive package with the roof down.
This new R8 FSI is available to order with six-speed manual or six-speed R tronic automated manual transmission and is priced at £95,545 OTR and £100,855 OTR (pricing incorporating forthcoming 20% VAT rate). First deliveries begin in January 2011.

September 16, 2010 at 11:24 pmHi Michael,
There’s no doubt that the R8 is an impressive car, made even more so by the FSI engine. A marvel of engineering! It’s just a shame that the fuel economy is still barely around 20mpg!
