Supercar… sports car… family car… many of the old definitions of how or where a car should fit into comfortable categories are eroding. This is especially apparent when most manufacturers are turning to the SUV body style for every segment. Thankfully, the Honda Civic Type R (FK8 2017) bursts out of this mould and retains a firm footing in the hot hatch arena.
This is a car that is capable of almost 170 miles per hour and hit 0-62 in 5.7 seconds. The 2.0 litre VTEC engine is still present, but is is much more up to date with the addition of a TURBO. Peak torque is 400Nm and you can bet that this thing will put a grin on your face when you put the pedal to the metal.
In this age of seemingly homogeneous design, we salute Honda for doing something a little different and producing a car that looks unique. The performance is staggering for a reasonable efficient motor and the levels of grip shouldn’t fail you either. Honda, we salute your ode to performance motoring.
