The Times Online has an excellent article that takes a look at the age old debate – which is cheaper, a petrol or diesel car? In this case, the cars in question are both Skoda Fabias. One has a 1.2 litre petrol engine, the other a 1.6 litre TDI. Performance is similar on paper. Read the article to find out which works out cheaper. Surprisingly, it’s closer than you think.
Hi Roy,
That’s true – a good strong diesel should last for a huge number of miles, as per your Ford Fiesta. Generally, diesels are more robust due to the combustion process used. Mind you, a good old 6 litre V12 should last as well as that would also be difficult to stress!
