Kwik Fit has announced 200 new apprenticeship roles to coincide with National Apprenticeship Week 2015. The roles are being offered across the UK, providing an opportunity for local youths aged 16-18 primarily an apprenticeship close to home. Kwik Fit has trained more than 1,800 people under its current apprenticeship programme. Over the last 15 years the scheme has consistently seen higher success rates than the national average, with many participants progressing to senior levels within the company.
Kwik Fit has a flexible approach to apprenticeships, offering candidates routes into both management and technical careers. The company provides apprentices with high quality training enabling them to meet the demands of increasingly complex modern cars and also ensure that customers are offered the highest level of service. As well as developing a wide range of technical skills, the programme works to improve candidates Maths, English and Personal skills to enable each apprentice to fulfil their potential, including offering a path into junior management roles.
Paul Binks, head of learning and development at Kwik Fit, said: “Apprentices are crucial to our business as they develop into our future leaders. We make a huge investment in our learning and development programme and deliver over 18,000 training days a year through our industry leading training academies. Our apprentices are appointed into permanent roles and receive a structured training mix of classroom theory, workshop practice and on the job coaching. This gives them a major advantage over those following a purely classroom based course and allows them to quickly develop the right skills for a long term career.”
Kwik Fit has four training academies in Derby, Harlow, Reading and Broxburn. A Kwik Fit Apprenticeship lasts around two years and provides a total of 91 Learning credits. This favourably compares with the minimum requirement of 60 Learning credits delivered in a typical equivalent course carried out in a college environment.
