They say that actions speak louder than words. In that case, this McLaren P1 GTR design study is positively shouting across the room! The ‘standard’ P1 is a roadgoing car like no other. This GTR (track only variant) is a design study created by the McLaren Special Operations to be totally optimised for the track. As it doesn’t require any homologation for the road, it is designed to be a complete monster.
The GTR pushes out a mammoth 986 bhp from the motorsport-optimised 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine and lightweight electric motor and there’s even greater emphasis on aerodynamic performance through the dramatic bodywork. The GTR will also feature race-proven slick tyres, a fixed ride height, enhanced power delivery from the IPAS powertrain and Formula 1-derived DRS from the large, fixed rear wing and an ERS-style push-to-pass system, all combining to offer the ultimate track experience.
Watch upcoming posts for more details. Suffice to say, if we were on a motorsport team, this would be our pick. McLaren, we salute you!
