An attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Parade of Classic Cars has been put on hold, to allow classic car owners more time to register.
The event, which is set to take place in Coventry and is being organised by Coventry Transport Museum and Footman James, with support from Jaguar Heritage and the RICOH Arena, has already attracted over 1000 signups – well over half the amount needed to smash the current Guinness World Record, showing that there is a real appetite to bring the record to the UK.
Organisers are delighted with the fantastic response they have received from classic car owners who are keen to get involved with the attempt, which was originally planned to take place on Sunday 14th June. In order to give owners more time to register, the organisers have taken the decision to postpone the attempt and to keep registration open until they have sufficient signups to confidently set a date for the World Record attempt.
Gary Hall, Chief Executive of Culture Coventry, the trust which runs Coventry Transport Museum, said of today’s announcement:
“We are absolutely thrilled with the numbers of classic car owners who have registered their interest in taking part in our Guinness World Record attempt – in just a few weeks we have managed to attract well over half of the total number of vehicles needed. This shows that there is a real appetite to bring this record back to the UK, and to the spiritual home of the British Motor Industry. We are therefore very keen to give classic car owners more time to get involved in helping us to smash the record. Everyone who has registered their interest so far will be kept informed of developments over the coming weeks, and once we have sufficient people registered to take part we will set a new date for the attempt and announce further details.”
