The world-famous RoSPA Health and Safety Awards are now open for entries for 2019 – and there are a host of brand new honours and categories on offer.
For the first time, organisations will be able to demonstrate their commitment to safeguarding their employees’ wellbeing inside and outside of the workplace with the new Safe@Work Safe@Home Award, which is sponsored by L’Oreal.
There is also a range of new awards to recognise the outstanding contributions of individual health and safety practitioners, teams and projects. The RoSPA Inspiration Awards herald the return of the Distinguished Service Award, and will also recognise the Influencer of the Year, as well as the Health and Safety Team of the Year, and Health and Safety Initiative of the Year. An evolution of the Archangel Award, the new Pride Award will recognise everyday safety heroes.
Meanwhile, those operating in the leisure industry can now apply to win a Leisure Safety Award, sponsored by SportsCover.
Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards, said: “We’re really excited to launch the RoSPA Awards 2019, as next year there’s an array of new honours to reflect the ever-evolving nature of occupational health and safety.
“There’s some excellent work being done to protect not only staff but also their families, as well as customers, clients, and in the case of the leisure industry, guests and visitors. To recognise this, and in line with RoSPA’s whole-person, whole-life philosophy, we’ve introduced the Safe@Work Safe@Home Award and the Leisure Safety Awards to allow organisations to shout about their amazing efforts.
“Honouring this work also allows RoSPA to spread safety messages and good practice, developed in some of the best workplaces in the world, to the environments that need it more – people’s own homes, where more serious accidents happen than anywhere else. We hope to encourage organisations across the world to develop the whole-person, whole-life ethos and help to protect people’s wellbeing wherever they are.”
The RoSPA Awards 2019, sponsored by NEBOSH, are open for registration from today (Wednesday, October 3) – register before October 31 to take advantage of the early-bird discounts.
Presentation ceremonies will take place on June 6 in Birmingham, June 18 in London, and September 12 in Glasgow.
