This is the latest image of the Suzuki R3 concept car, which is being shown at the 2010 Auto Expo in New Delhi. The R3 Concept is a compact MPV that can seat six people in three rows and has been designed as an example of a vehicle that could cater for India’s rapidly changing car market and where consumer lifestyles are quickly evolving.
R3 combines compact dimensions and stylish profiling with four wide opening doors without a central B pillar, allowing easy access for all occupants.
I think it’s actually quite an attractive little thing – though whether those suicide doors actually stay for the finished model only time will tell. The R3 has been designed at Maruti Suzuki India’s Research and Development department, so it may well be that it never reaches these shores. Import anyone? You’d probably be the only person in the country with one!

January 13, 2010 at 11:12 amI note that the new Meriva retains its B pillar despite the rear suicide doors. I suspect a production R3 will go the same way.

Very well spotted. Frankly, if we’re going with suicide doors I think the B pillar is unsightly. However, it does solve some difficult engineering issues!
