Whether it is your first attempt or your 50th, there is no feeling quite like passing your driving test. You get a great sense of accomplishment, plus an immense feeling independence as you are now able to drive solo and travel anywhere you want whenever you want.
As such a large life event, it is understandable that you are feeling anxious in the run-up to the test. Whilst it is impossible to get rid of this anxiety, one way that you can reduce it is to be as fully prepared as possible. In addition to getting as much practice as possible behind the wheel, it is also worth knowing some information about driving tests that you can use to your advantage.
Time of Day
Interestingly, it seems that both the time of day and year can have an impact on success rates. In the UK, the average pass rate currently stands at 47.2%. However, if you look into time slots, then 65% of learners manage to pass between 7 pm and 9 pm. Generally, the roads are much quieter at this time so there will be less traffic to deal with. The second highest timeframe is between 09:00 and 11:00, which is after the school run has been made and again there is not a huge amount of traffic. The worst times of day to take the test are during lunch between 11:00 and 13:00 where just 48.8% pass, and rush hour between 17:00 and 19:00 where the pass rate is 49.3%.
Time of Year
The time of year also has a huge impact on pass rates. Unsurprisingly, pass rates fall during the winter months where visibility and conditions are at their worst. If possible, you should look to book your test in the summer or spring where visibility is high, conditions are (generally) dry and the weather is more predictable and safer for driving.
Preparation
Whilst it is easy to obsess over statistics and finding the perfect time of day and year to take your test, the real key to success is in being fully prepared. It is important to take enough lessons until your instructor feels that you are ready and then get as much practice in as possible beforehand. If you obtain learner driver insurance, you can practice with anybody between 25 and 75 who has held a full UK license for at least 3 years – this is a great way to keep your skills up and practice those tricky manoeuvres.
Passing your test is a great feeling, so keep this information in mind at it may help you to pass with flying colours and join the roads as a licensed driver.
Yes it is such a wonderful feeling to have passed your test, especially if it has taken you some attempts to do so. Interesting post regarding the best times to take your test. It’s not something we normally think about submerged in the anticipation of taking the test, but worth thinking about and taking note.
For new drivers there are many ways to save money and drive safer. A review I post recently was about a new app which helps new drivers and can claims that it can save them quite a bit of money on their car insurance. It is worth taking a look and giving a others a chance to benefit also from a really innovative and benficial app. Well , see what you think ? > http://www.manlymag.com/new-driver-programme-npd-connect-review/
