For many, the Corsa VXR is the darling of the VXR range – it isn’t too unwieldy like the Astra, it isn’t ridiculous like the Zafira. It is just right, a well balanced, exceptionally quick hot hatch with great looks. An uprated, very safe small car that is just as much at home larking about on the track as it is going to Asda for the shopping. So, what’s this about a ‘Limited Edition’ Arctic White version?
Well, here’s what Vauxhall have to say:
Introducing new Corsa VXR Arctic Edition. Launched at the 2008 British International Motor Show in July, this edition signals a new era for Vauxhall’s VXR – where power and performance are king and styling is bold and brave.
This Arctic Edition is limited to just 500, making the experience of driving one all the more unique. Although few and far between, you’ll be hard pushed to miss this VXR as they’re only available in bright glossy Glacier White.
The bespoke black 18-inch V-spoke alloy wheels with ultra-low profile 225/35 tyres and a Remus Sports exhaust will separate the part-time players from the serious drivers. Driving this VXR you’ll have to get used to being noticed, though the electrically operated sliding glass sunroof, dark-tinted rear windows and black gloss roof can help you stay comfortably separated from the admirers.
And if you need to make a hasty departure, the Corsa VXR’s 1.6-litre turbocharged engine can deliver a speedy 0-60 time of 6.8 seconds.
Don’t just take our word for it, this is what VX Racing’s rookie star had to say on the matter…
“The white blew me away, and I love the noise from the Remus exhaust, it’s quite addictive.”
– Tom Onslow-Cole.
What do I think? Yes, I would have one. I’m not quite sure why, but I like the whole white thing that the industry is doing at the moment. Very retro, but very refreshing too. Small cars look good with it, as do supercars. As I mentioned, the VXR Corsa is a great all round performer and something you’d be happy to be behind the wheel of. Mentioning which, I’m off to book a test drive so I’ll have more information soon.
I’d also like to mention that if I was driving one of only 500 then I’d feel very happy indeed. After all, there are far too many people out there in Astras that look like VXR’s but have piddly 1.4 litre engines…
i own an arctic vxr and the week before i got it i couldnt sleep just thinking about the noise and power it developes iam 18 an very lucky to have 1 “kids work hard” its the only way and i love it best insurance quote i found was at admiral still 3500 tho but its well worth every penny
I assume you have either won the lottery or have very rich parents Daniel (I’ll not speculate on the other possibilities)!
Either way, I agree, a very nice car.
Any chance of sending a picture over so we can post an image of your car?
N.B. That’s one hugely scary insurance premium!
Hi,
i have owned my arctic (364) for over a month now and all i can say is:
ITS AMAZING
the looks, the speed, the whole driving experience. its just perfect!
you get all the looks from pedestrians and other drivers, and couple that with some very very loud rock music while flying down the motorway, you’ll have a grin plastered on your face 🙂
the average Miles Per Gallon after 2000 miles in mine is 32.0mpg
i’m 21, with 2 years no claims, and my insurance was £1,600
heres a link to some photos of mine:

hi
parents arent rich i just work hard for what i want lol i only have pics on my laptop and am unsure how to load them on to site u cant help but smile even when ure no where near the car. a coach full of tourists were surrounding the car as i walked upto my beast i thought a bad accident had happend i felt like the smugest person alive
Hey guys,
i hear the artic is a beast, i have a astra 1.6 turbo tht is like S**T off a shuvel, i hear the artic is amazing i love the look, i hear tou have to modify them to make them shift, as i have an insurance quote for £1.095 ay 18 im happy :D. do any of yours have extras like xenon lights because my astra has lots of accessories and i am just worried tht i get the arctic and dont like it as it wont be fast enough?? any comments back will be appreciated.
Hi R33CYE,
The Corsa’s 0-60 time of 6.8 seconds should be plenty fast enough for you…
Hi, yes i admit the astra is bulky and very shit at stearing i just dont want to get a arctic and hate the stearing and power, my brother has a renault clio F1 if it is as quick as that then i am happy. im on my dad insurance that has 5 years no claims so am lucky, phoned them up they said it will cost me £5 to swap my insurance over i have now to a VXR cant remember who i am with i will let you know once i asked me old ma. plus my insurance runs out 20 march so need to decide wherether to get a VXR Arctic?? HMMMM wat number VXR’s do you have guys i have seen 2 i am looking at one is 292 and other is 10, i would love the one that is 10 out of 500 but you know what car dealers are like, wel it is 10 of 500 so the price wont go down etc etc. did any of you get deals on yours???
mine is 141 and the power and srearing wont dissapoint i would go for number 10 that is a wicked number to have and book yourself for a test drive in a standard corsa vxr then imagen ure driving a white beast and you own 1 of 500 then when u come to owning 1 the remus eghaust makes it all worth while hit the limiter as you leave a tunel the sound is truly inspiring and for the price of the car and what your getting is brilliant have a look on youtube at the videos of the guys in nurburg and arctic larkin around with regards to the clio the looks are there altho i hate the interior pretty standard but u get what u pay for i have seen 1 in white with the body kit and spoiler black alloys costing 12000 and i recently saw a video of an vxr and f1 doing a time attack around a track and sorry t say but the clio won by 1 second but did you know the corsa vxr was the first vxr to be built in a wind tunel overall i think the arctic is the best car but i would say that as i own 1 lol there are more than 500 lambos even bugattie vayrons this is truly a chance to own part of vauxhall history let me know what u decide and where do u live we would have to meet up some time if you chose to get an arctic
This is what I like to see – genuine pride and passion in your motors! Nice one lads. I’m still considering the Astra VXR – the only question to me is whether it is more desirable than the Impreza WRX I’m looking at too!
Just spotted this http://www.driver.ie/forum/showthread.php?t=76457
You lads with with your Artics…it just became a little bit rarer. That one is in a sorry state, real shame to see it like that. 🙁
yeah i saw that on the car forum modifiedsparx.com i have bin a member 4 ages an the staff sent it me in an email mr butterscotch you of all people should know that imprezas can hold there value as well as a chocolate fireguard will protect you ive never bin a fan of the impreza there too common and highly overated yes theres more bhp potensiol at the end of the day its the car u go home and cant stop thinking about you should buy. the vxr mate in my oppinion is much better looking and a nicer more comfortable ride and sound but for shere speed and handling impreza
hi im hoping to get my arctic in a few day. i ordered mine with the cdc40 cd changer/ graphic display. .im having my car with aston vauxhall i have been waiting for so long. hope it worth the wait. i got a private plate for mine L500 VXR. it will look good with the car. im 20 with 3 years no claims. and my insurance quote is £1450 with admiral. the best price around.
Hey guys the plates will look sick on the VXR but a waste of money, you will have to sell the plate with the car you cant have a VXR plate on another car it will look CRAP. you should get a plate tht is your name or something better. like my plate is R33CYE my name is REECE. =). going to look at arctic this sat cant wait. =)
true unless you go for another vxr
im not bothered about having my name on the plates. i was just thinking that they will be worth more with the car. but it not like im going to sell the car for at least 5 years lol got to pay for it first. ha.
what is cheapest price anyone has payed for an arctic off vauxhall. im paying £15410
true, im going to look at one tomo. he said it is £16.000 but he will knock off £1.500 so £14.500, tht has done 10 miles so basically brand new but it has been registered on a 58 plate so if i got it i would be the second owner, i shall update you how well it goes. lets just hope they offer me what i want on my Astra seeing as i have shit loads of extras on me Astra. cant wait to go look tho. only thing is i dont think they will let me test drive it lmao. plus shitty weather dont help for when i go look at it. =(. cant wait to get one tho. it cost 100 suming to get my private plate off my car its a lot of money just to get a plate on a retention certificate =( sux tbh,
i had a corsa hockenheim 1.4 white corsa with chuqes goin over body and roof with body kit and i put 2 grand down on that i had it for ten months then an old lady pulled out on me forcing me into a drystone walll and i hav gap insurance so i ended up getting 4 grand off then the 10 percent so overall 11400 iam paying
i like the astrophisics in the car and its alloy rims, also the colour of the car that makes a refletion.
from sean a young car lover
WOW test drove one sat it was amazing the sound the pure qickness was amazing. i guess as it is a smaller car it seems qickr than mine, but at same time the engine is the same.
i have just got to wait for the right one to come along now, monthl payments are coming a bit too high =( but am savng my pennies now lol. i will post pictures etc when i eventually get one. any one got more pictures?????
Thanks for the help on the arctic and your opinions guys.
the car is AMAZING. =)
Dad bought one for £14k and then received free road tax for one year, free tyre insurance, free supaguard paint guard guaranteed for six years, a free Goodmans MP3 player, which all equates to about £1k. Oh and £500 for my old Mondeo which brought it down to £13.5k. It had done 8 miles when he bought it and is the first owner, good deal huh? I sometimes get to drive it, it’s not right a 60 something year old having one of these!!!!!!!
just ordered mine last week. got the last one from Vauxhall with the rain pack. got it for £15,600. insurance quote from Admiral £211. not bad for a 42 year old with 12 years no claimes.
Nice one PMS – a great choice of car.
You’ll have to give us all an update when you pick it up! Write in and let us know your thoughts and we’ll publish them.
do your bumpers and petrol flap match the rest of the car ?. my nephew recently just purchased a nice new vxr arctic and the colour match on the bumpers to put it miledly is shite.
I love the look of the Corsa but i went for an Astra in the end, now stage 3 – pure beast.
How do laddies
Just chucked the missus out of the house and chucked her in the garage with the cat boxes. Moved the new love of my life (Corsa Arctic, with extra lamps) into the bedroom! Number 346 and by crickey I have! Its an absolute belter!
Previously had a Clio 182 and got a divorce from it last week. I was a little bit gutted to get rid but seeing and driving what I have now, for the minute, there is no comparison! It should be good to see it up against the New Clio 200 to be brought out by the end of the week though!
Hi guys,
now this may upset some of you hear whom all paid nearly £16,000 or more for there vauxhall corsa arctic version, but today i px my audi tt in for just under £6000 and then paid a further £4000 cash then and there and got my arctic then are there so for just shy of £10000. sorry to all who paid silly money, especailly when you go on auto trader and a lotus exige is £11000 and with my friend owning a lotus exige i hate to admit to eats the corsa alive!!
Sorry all
With regards to the above, my friend went to the dealer a month ago and got his for just over £10,000, crazy to all thise who paid over that!! its a recession at the moment and you all could of easily got loads more off, i admit its a fast car but for £15000 or more you would expect it to be fucking great, well honestly guys when you can oick up a porsch boxter with better street cred with ladies i would go for one of those, i personally own a vauxhall astra sri ex pack edition and my friend finds its hard to pull away from me, im sorry to all those who are in love with this car but its just not worth the money.
M1KEE VXR: You offer the best alternative. I want a Lotus Exige.

Nice one Jess, congratulations on getting the car. That’s a pretty good price on the insurance too. Care to pick me up and we’ll go for a spin? 🙂 I’ll drive…
I Picked my Artic up on the first of September. number 490, got the last one from vauxhaull. I love it…..all my friends and work mates think it looks and sounds great…. insurance at admiral for me was £220 with protected no claimes…can’t fault that can you…i hear the comments from those who prefer a lotus and yes you can get faster cars such as the boxters etc.. but you pay for it in the long run.. so for me the vxr artic is….TOP GUN.
whos got the lowwiest model, i got model no 22 and i got bluetooth, ricoro lether seats, and built in sat nav and my insurance is 800quid fully comp as im 23 had it for just under 12 months still love it every time i get in it 😛
I own a 1.2 club corsa fully done the same as a vxr no diffrence in them what so ever except the engine. I hope to be getting my Artic corsa in a couple of days i am 17 and my insurance is £550. 😀
Hi Kenan,
Sounds good. Send in a picture when you get it!
Yeah will do. Do you know of any events going on in the new year for vxr owners. I will do i will send them straight through. 🙂
Hi Kenan,
If you’re looking for events for VXR owners, check out this site:
http://www.vxronline.co.uk/vxrohome.php – should be details there.
hey,
i’m looking at gettin a arden blue corsa VXR but my boyfriend keeps talkin about these arctic things does anyone no if theres much difference in the insurance prices?!? i know the arctics look smarter but i think i preffer the blue.
Hi Tara,
Another thing to consider is the price. An ‘Arctic’ edition will carry a significant premium due to limited availability. Any insurer should tell you the difference (if there is one) between the standard and ‘Arctic’ version of the Corsa.
How much does the car cost would like to get one off these
GET A PROPA CAR PEOPLE…. LOL….. 0-60 IN 7 SECONDS IS NOT FAST AT ALL DONT KID YASELF PEOPLE!!
HI All,
I am 20 years of age and no years NCB and have been driving for 1 year but i really want a Corsa VXR! i can get one for £13,000 brand new because i can get staff discount at vauxhall but i cant find anyone that will insure me…does anyone know the best place to look?? i’m not 17 or 18 but why is it so hard??? please help…
Hi Ashley,
You’re very fortunate to be able to get a VXR for £13,000! I’m very jealous. However, the VXR is a performance car and a combination of high insurance group (16E), high value, your age and the fact that you have 0 NCB is working against you in this case. Given the state of the market at the moment, you’d be surprised just how many younger people are having trouble getting any kind of vehicle insurance, let alone insurance that costs less than £4,000!
I did hear from a colleague that Admiral have insured his daughter when many other companies would not, so I’d take a look. Also, have you considered getting another person on the policy? This may help you.
There’s less flexibility when it comes to giving quotations online. Sometimes it’s worth ringing up a few companies just to speak to a real person – they can sometimes get access to deals that you otherwise wouldn’t know about.
As a final point Ashley, if a company does offer you insurance cover, you may find it prohibitively expensive. It may be worth considering a standard Corsa for a few years until you’re a little older and have built up some NCB. Just a thought!
hi kenan where you get you insurance from £550 is very cheap
hi guys
Iv got a astra arctic but can anyone tell me where i find what number mine is. I love it cleaned everyday son can only just be allowed to breath in it lol
I have owned my corsa arctic number 454 for 2 years now, since new.
Have loved every minute of ownership, it looks gorgeous and sounds amazing. Very quick for what it is.
Unfortunately I am now selling up, want something different now. It’s up on autotrader if anyone’s interested 😉
Enjoy your vxr’s guys, they are awesome cars.
Lee
Hi guys,
Im looking to buy an Arctic, im 20 years old with 2 years no claims, the cheapest insurance quote iv had so far is £4256 with admiral. after reading some of the prices that others have had insurance for i was just wondering if you could help me in getting insurance for less than the quote i have allredy had. Thanks Lee
Hi Lee,
Unfortunately age is against you on this one. I can’t recommend a specific company and whilst £4,000 is extremely high, the VXR Corsa is in insurance group 16 I believe. You’re better off buying something in a lower bracket, keeping it for a couple of years and then buying the Arctic after that.
Hi i have just test drove one n bought it today its mint cannot wait to get my hands on it 2moro nite once the insurance comes through n i can drive it off the forcourt, the sound from the remus exhaust is fantastic n it will blow my fiesta ST off the road for exceleration!!!! exciting times ahead i think :-p
I just bought one. pick it up this friday. my insurance quote is average. i pick my car up on friday. my insurance is £800 with 0 no claims and im 24 🙂
here lads any one know were any of these arctics are as i have spent hours looking for one and i really want a white one but i am finding i cant find one so thinking ill have to settle for a blue one with remus ??
Hi Shaun,

Test drove a Corsa VXR the other week. My god it was amazing! i was half expecting a poorly put together sports car. It had incredible speed for what it is and it could corner like a god! literally i was trying hard to make it loose control and it just wouldn’t. (this was at a test track).
Hey up GW53BAX…I have your car now! How odd to see you on here
I have driven a Corsa VXR and I thought it was really good fun. Lightweight with a decent engine in and it was really quick and nippy. It was my friends car and I just drove it around for 10 minutes or so, but when I come to change my car it may be one that I look into. Good look on the arctic white as well.
the electrically operated sliding glass sunroof, dark-tinted rear windows and black gloss roof can help you stay comfortably separated from the admirers, that’s great.
