DS3 is the first model in Citroën’s brand new DS line, a product range consisting of three distinctively styled, attention-grabbing models that highlight the very best of Citroën’s ‘Créative Technologie’. DS3 inaugurates the DS line, with DS4 and DS5 set to launch in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
So, what’s all the fuss about with this new Citroen then? Well, for starters, just look at that thing! There’s a lot of detailing all over the car, though to be fair if you’re shy and retiring then this is probably not the car for you. Then again, you’d probably prefer something a little larger and more stately than a supermini with a floating roofline and dark tinted windows.
Inside, DS3 is beautifully appointed, sporty and driver-focused. With low-slung, body-hugging seats, all commands and controls are neatly orientated towards the driver’s eye line. The materials used in the carefully crafted interior have been specially selected to create a sophisticated and engaging cabin environment.
There’s a huge range of options too, which means that your DS3 can be unique to you, whether you want colour differentiation of a new set of alloys added and even the wheel centre caps can be changed.
Naturally there’s plenty of safety kit to keep you on the road too, giving you peace of mind that the DS3 can cope with a whole range of situations.
The world of DS3 starts at just £11,700 for the petrol VTi 95hp DSign, rising to £15,900 for the top-of-the-range petrol THP 150hp and diesel HDi 110hp DSport models.
I really like the DS3 – I’m glad that Citroen has done something different and I can’t wait to see the rest of the ‘DS’ lineup.
