Here at Car Articles we have regularly commented that SUVs are just about the most popular class of vehicle that are currently being manufactured. It seems that just about every other day we have an announcement of either a new model or alternatively a refreshed and updated car. We hope then that the Fiat 500X is in a position to live up to the glorious exterior and offer something that sets it apart from the other mini 4x4s out there!
There will be two variants on offer, one described as for the ‘metropolitan’ amongst us, whilst the second variant will be for those who need a little bit of soft roading ability. Either will be available as a petrol or diesel in automatic or manual guise. There’s also a six speed twin clutch option.
There are three drivetrain options to select for the car – these being front-wheel drive, ‘Traction Plus’-equipped front-wheel drive or advanced all-wheel drive with fuel-saving rear axle disconnect.
Our engine pick? The four-wheel drive diesel option with 140hp. The powerplant is a 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbo diesel and should offer plenty of torque off road as well as reasonable economy and a smooth motorway cruise.
The Fiat 500X will go on sale in the second quarter of 2015 in the UK and is no doubt destined to be seen everywhere. Pricing is to be announced so watch this space.

February 17, 2016 at 4:34 pmI do like the look of the new Fiat. I think more then anything, it looks like a very safe car. Built similarly to the Mini Countryman. It would be interesting to have some comparisons between the 2. Based on looks alone, I think I would go for the Fiat 500X.
What does everyone think and does anyone have any comparison information?

February 17, 2016 at 7:20 pmHi guys,
I would concur regarding which I’d choose on looks alone. For practicality maybe the MINI Countryman however would win out? Then again, if you want practicality a slightly larger segment car would be my advice, e.g. a Skoda Octavia estate. I’ll see if I can run a comparison in a future article.
