One of the ways in which our cars can look tatty and old, even when that isn’t the case, is a damaged paint job. There are a large number of reasons why a car may have damaged paint, but here are just some of the factors that can cause issues for your beautiful finish:
1) Bird poo. Clean it off rather than leaving it, and all the nasty chemicals therein, to cause damage.
2) Not fixing scratches etc. If damage is down to the primer, or even worse, bare metal, you risk exposing this to the air and allowing the damage to spread.
3) Beach erosion. Sand and other particles can wear your paintwork down, making it dull and lifeless.
4) Sun can bleach a car colour over time, especially if it is of poor quality.
5) Exposure to chemicals. Be aware of where you are parking your car. Near to anywhere with industrial chemical use or heavy fumes can affect the top layers of paint.
The obvious answer is to have your car cleaned and looked after properly to ensure that it always have the ‘just out of the showroom’ look that we all crave after, especially during the summer. On the subject of cleaning, that is a whole new post but I’d certainly advise distance if you’re going to use a pressure washer on that lacquer…
