You may well remember that Top Gear did a test some time ago featuring a BMW M3 versus a Toyota Prius around the test track. The Prius was naturally going full out, whilst the performance oriented M3 found it very easy to keep up with the slower but more economical car.
The result was interesting – the Prius had a lower fuel economy on the track than the M3 as it was being driven extremely hard. Is this surprising? Well not really, we’ve known for a while now how important it is to drive in a conservative way, avoiding frenetic or frantic driving. Does this however take away some element of fun from the overall driving experience?
