Kia is getting really rather good as this concept car malarkey. In this case, this is the rather special looking Kia Proceed concept. It is set for a world debut at the 2017 Frankfurt International Motor Show on 12 September. It is described as an ‘extended hot hatch’, which certainly fits the bill. It is, in aesthetics, something akin to a mix of estate, hatch and even shooting brake. We really rather like it!
Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer Europe for Kia Motors, commented: “With many European drivers now seeking performance alternatives to the three-door hot hatch, we began thinking about a different halo model for the cee’d family. The Proceed Concept represents a bold new vision of how the vibrant soul of the pro_cee’d could be reincarnated and revitalised for a new generation of performance-oriented drivers.”
One thing that might not be immediately obvious is the lack of B pillars. This design feature should mean better visibility from the outset. The concept car is running on 20 inch alloy wheels which are some of the most attractive we have seen for a long time. We highly doubt however that these will make the production car.
Kia will unveil the Proceed Concept on 12 September on the Kia stand, located in Hall 9 of the Frankfurt Messe exhibition centre. We hope that something of this car makes it to production around the time when we are in the market for a new motor.
