Car brands, it seems, must have a 4×4 that is little and also one that is large. Skoda’s small SUV is the Yeti and it is very capable, smart and popular. However, it is in the smaller segment. Skoda was in need therefore of something larger to compete with the likes of the new Jaguar F-PACE and Audi Q5/BMW X3 etc. The Kodiaq is the newest Skoda car and it will be available from late 2016.
The name comes from indigenous people that live south of Alaska – the Kodiak is a type of bear. The q moniker at the end of the name is significant in that it denotes an animal in the Alutiiq native language. Fascinating!
