Product Review – Turtle Wax Waterless Wash

The product
Turtle Wax Waterless Wash contains a bottle of 500ml ‘waterless wash’ and a microfibre cleaning cloth.

The price
Estimated at around £9.99.

Application
This product from Turtle Wax couldn’t be more simple to use. All you do is spray the synthetic cleaning waterless wash on the car body (including plastic, paintwork and wheels), then simply use the microfibre cleaning cloth to wipe off. The waterless wash is designed to encapsulate dirt and dust so that it is very simple to wipe off.

The test
I decided to wait till after a longer journey to put the waterless wash to work. I don’t think it’s particularly ethical to use hosepipe water to clean a car if it can be avoided (especially as outside taps tend to use water that is perfectly drinkable) so this seemed like a great no nonsense product. I drove approximately 300 miles over the course of 3 days and on my return home broke out the Waterless Wash.

The wash is in one large bottle and the cleaning cloth is nice and large. I began by spraying one small portion of the car to see what kind of effect it had. It seemed to bring dirt, grease and dust up very easily. No marks or smears were left and the finish behind was very good. Only the most difficult of stains required several more applications – in particular some bird ‘leftover’ required three goes before it went. Talk about stubborn stains!

The test featured all kinds of dust, dirt, grime and even many flies that had ended their existence on the front number plate of my mile crunching car. All were swiftly despatched with spray and cloth. I didn’t seem to require the use of that much spray either.

The positives
The Waterless Wash seemed to work really well. The finish after cleaning was good and there were no white marks on the plastic trim or smears on the paintwork.

The negatives
Only the fact that a little extra elbow grease than normal was required to really clean up the car. You may not find it the easiest car cleaning solution for truly grimy motors.

The bottom line
This is a very good cleaning product which will bring a nice finish to your car. Simple, no nonsense and suitable for everyday use.
