RoSPA’s Road Safety Conference Returns In 2019

December 16, 2018 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

Policies and practical initiatives to protect Britain’s most vulnerable road users will be the theme for RoSPA’s annual Road Safety Conference, held on Wednesday, February 13 2019.

Despite Britain having some of the safest roads in the world, every year, thousands of road users are killed or injured whilst going about their daily lives. This conference looks at emerging issues, national strategies and practical initiatives aimed at individuals and local communities.

The conference is aimed at all road safety practitioners, researchers, policy makers and stakeholders, and will involve a number of interesting talks covering a range of topics, and networking opportunities throughout the day.

Delegates will hear from key policy makers, leading academics and practitioners delivering case studies within both a rural and urban setting, followed by exhibition opportunities.

Speakers this year include: Mark Bennett, European product expert from Britax; Stuart Reid, interim director Vision Zero, TfL; Joe Green, transportation behaviour change manager from Birmingham City Council; Lyn Morris, road safety officer of Carmarthenshire Road Safety; Ameena Berkowitz, policy adviser, Road Safety Policy (Vulnerable Road Users) from the Department for Transport; and Karen McDonnell, head of RoSPA Scotland and RoSPA OHS policy advisor.

Nick Lloyd, acting head of road safety for RoSPA, said: “I hope that everyone who attends this year’s conference can take away actions and information which they can use to make their area safer for children, pedestrians, cyclists and other vulnerable road users. The day will provide delegates an opportunity to share ideas and to learn from experts in their field of road safety.”

The RoSPA Road Safety Conference 2019 will be taking place at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham between 9.30am and 3.45pm.

All those interested in attending should visit www.rospa.com/events/road, or contact the RoSPA events team on 0121 248 2091 or [email protected].

If you’re interested in getting involved as a sponsor or exhibitor, contact [email protected].
