Auto Trader is reporting that the police in Richmond, Surrey are trying people’s car doors and taking their valuables back to the station – for collection of course. This is part of a new initiative to improve levels of motor vehicle security, as once in it can be relatively easy for some criminals to either be off with your valuables or hot wire the car before taking off. What do you think of this concept? It’s a little intrusive for my taste, and I can’t imagine it’s a PR winner for the police.
