We liked the idea behind this video produced by Lease Car and it got us thinking about cars from films. We’ve previously shared a few of our favourites. Perhaps if Batman had got into his Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 instead of the Tumbler he might have take the listed time of 3.4 seconds and blown away the Nissan Skyline from The Fast and the Furious which takes the win in this video.
It’s good to be reminded of the DeLorean from Back to the Future and once it reached that special 88mph then all bets are off in the race as time is no longer a restriction. I’m sure I read once that the original DeLorean only had a speedo which went up to 85mph which inspired the chosen movie speed of 88mph because it meant that it was something that was off the scale.
I was sad to see Herbie struggle in last place and I’m sure with a bit of magical tricky there could have been a better performance. Notable absences from this race include the Dodge Charger from Dukes of Hazzard and KITT from Knight Rider but perhaps they were ruled out for mainly being known for the small screen rather than movies.
My preference among this selection is the 1971 Mustang. What at thing of beauty! I am not surprised it was the star of Gone In 60 Seconds. What a car!
