It often becomes impossible for the police to recover your car, as the stolen cars are quickly dismantled, given a new identity by taking a registration number of a scrapped model, and an altered milometer showing a low mileage. A study in the theft pattern will help you analyze the situations where your car becomes most vulnerable to car thefts. The study will also help you to decide which types of security devices are essential for your car model.
If you are the proud owner of a new car, take a look at the New Car Security Ratings (NCSR)
Also refer to its Car Theft Index for leading makes and models of car.

February 16, 2008 at 9:10 pmThe reason why Vauxhall Astras, Belmont, Nova, Metro’s etc are all so popular is because all you have to do is pull off the steering column cover off the bottom of the steering wheel, pull the plug off the back of the ignition barrel and use a door key or flat screwdriver to start. The steering lock snaps easily too. Its just too easy. Peugeot’s of the same age are quite difficult.
Just some education for you on why they are the most stolen.

February 27, 2011 at 3:04 amAlways been a fan on old Vauxhalls, especially the ’85-’91 Astra MK2. Being one of the most stolen cars in Britain makes sense due to the fact that I haven’t seen one for years.

April 20, 2011 at 12:03 pmI am suprised honda is not on the list. I have looked at other websites and honda seems to be always on the list. I had mine honda civic stolen in 2007, I had the car for more than 3 years and it was a very good runner, I still miss it. Thanks.
