Buy A 18 Plate Car – Used!

March 25, 2018 by Mr Butterscotch 1 Comment

Pressure on car dealers to hit sales targets means it’s already possible to save thousands by snapping up a car with the brand new 18-plate – as a used vehicle!

Online motor retail specialist BuyaCar.co.uk says it’s unusual to see the very latest plate offered on used cars just three weeks after it was launched.

It means canny car buyers can sport the 18 registration, which was released on March 1, without anyone realising that their car isn’t brand new.

Savings totalling more than £36,000 are already slashed off the best ten bargain models – with ten days of the month still left to go. This represents savings of up to 17.6% and an average for the biggest ten cash savers of nearly 13%.

BuyaCar.co.uk says it’s a sign of the mounting pressure on dealers to beat a forecast drop in new car sales this year of 5.6% – while they’re still feeling bruised from last year’s 5.7% fall.

But it’s great news for image-conscious buyers who like to have the very latest number plate for substantially less than new car money.

“This year is unusually good for buyers because dealers do not typically make such cars available until the dash to pre-register cars right at the end of the month so they can hit manufacturer targets,” said Austin Collins, Managing Director of BuyaCar.co.uk.

“But we have been able to offer the brand new plate with big discounts much earlier than we’ve seen before. It isn’t just the big cash savings that make this a remarkable month for anyone wanting to show off the latest plate, because these cars are available immediately. That means there’s no waiting for delivery after placing an order. It’s also an opportunity to make big savings on the new price for a vehicle that still has the full warranty, give or take just a few days. But, for people who really want to keep up with the Jones’s, the best aspect is that nobody will know you didn’t buy a brand new car – unless you show them the log book.”

We at Car Articles would always recommend seeking out a pre-registered vehicle.  As long as it meets the specification that you want, significant savings really can be made.
