Few cars say that you have arrived better than an Aston Martin. In this case, the open topped Aston Martin DB11 Volante makes an excellent case for being the ride of the rich and famous – just look at this thing. The DB11 Coupe was launched last year to all round critical plaudits and there is no reason to suggest that the Volante will be any different.
Combining the best of both worlds, the DB11 Volante is being marketed as an ‘open topped sports GT’. AM acknowledge that their cars tend to be softer and less aggressive than some sports/performance oriented models from some other marques. But less me ask you – how many days a year do you actually drive the Nurburgring?
That said, this car is no slouch. Performance figures are extremely impressive – a new 4.0-litre twin-turbo 510PS V8 engine gives this lighter and more rigid Volante a significant boost over the previous model. Increased refinement, comfort and interior space ensure it remains a consummate grand tourer.

Talking about the price of an Aston Martin always seems a little gauche – a bit like asking your grandma for a lend of a tenner. Unseemly if you like. What we would say is that you’re unlikely to get much change from around £160,000. But this isn’t a car for everyone. There’s a little bit of magic that you will feel every time you step into an Aston Martin, no doubt particularly exemplified when the roof is down and you hear the roar of the engine. That’s why the Aston martin DB11 Volante is the October ‘Something For The Weekend’ car in 2017. We simply love it.
