The Ford Focus and the Excellent Sporty Models

October 27, 2016 by Fraser Leave a Comment

All-new Ford Focus RS is going global

Ever since its initial release back in 1998, the Ford Focus has been an incredibly popular compact vehicle and one that still dominates the roads today. It has undergone various makeovers and tweaks over the years, seeing it split into three separate generations and a handful of models. It was initially designed as a tool to draw in young buyers looking for a cheap vehicle, but would later become a much sought after automobile.

For those that are keen on sporty cars, the Focus does not disappoint. Here are the sportiest versions on the market and ones that are highly worth investing in.

Ford Focus ST

The ST is a highly acclaimed and very popular model with the third generation model hitting the roads in 2012. This performance-orientated hot hatch comes with a redesigned exterior, including larger air intakes and grille, larger rear wing and alloy wheels. Inside, the ST added new gauges in the dash, colourful sports seats and a faux carbon trim. This gave the Focus a more aggressive and sporty look, whilst still providing the comfort and reliability of the original.

Ford Focus RS

Now on its third generation, the RS has been receiving rave reviews and fans of sporty hatchbacks will love this car. It features a sleek, aerodynamic and colourful design complete with rear spoiler; this makes it an attractive hatchback with an optimised design by maximising downforce while creating zero lift. It is a joy to drive, with 350 horsepower, all-wheel-drive, dynamic torque vectoring and a revolutionary 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine with direct fuel injection.

Ford Focus Titanium

The RS and ST are known as the sporty models, but the Titanium X will also impress many. It features a slightly squarer profile and longer roofline, plus an impressive chrome grille and 16-inch ten-spoke alloy wheels. The interior has been revamped and now features a modern dash with soft-touch plastics and blue-lit instruments. Driving is a thrilling experience, with a new 1.5-litre 148bhp EcoBoost engine with sharp steering and a strong grip on the road

The Ford Focus has always been an exciting car to drive with a stylish design, but these three models (particularly the RS and ST) are very well suited to fans of sporty cars. The Focus is also famous for being excellent value for money. You will be able to pick a second-hand one up for affordable prices when shopping at reputable dealerships, like Motorpoint.

Reliable, safe, economical and fun to drive; the Focus is a car which ticks all the boxes.
