The Ariel Atom
Take one superbly minimalist, extremely quick car and whack in a 500bhp 3litre V8. What do you get? The new Ariel Atom 500 V8. Terrifyingly, this machine has a more than serious 1,000bhp per tonne thanks to the setup of the car. Looking like a go-kart in steroids, when you strap yourself into a ‘standard’ Atom the g-force can re-arrange your face as Jeremy Clarkson found out. I dread to think of what this new variant will be like.
If you’re after exclusivity, there’s no doubt that you’ll get it with this car. The limited edition of only 25 means that every one will be extremely high spec, with uprated suspension, brakes, an aero package and many Atom options as standard.
Acceleration is predicted to be faster than almost anything else, with less than 2.5 seconds to 60! Top speed will see the car dragging you all the way to 175mph or thereabouts. If you have a spare £100,000 there’s no doubt that you’ll be buying something not only fast but outrageously so. You won’t need to race away from the lights as there’ll be no-one to race…
