Is there any stopping this man at the moment when it comes to his F1 racing career? I’d certainly argue not given his current form. I have to say, it’s quite likely that, even if the rest of the field managed to develop their cars to make them more competitive, Jenson Button’s car will still be at the front. He’s now got the taste for winning and you can see the look on the face of the team when he comes home. There’s something of an expectation developing now.
I’d go so far as to declare that expectation fair, given the stellar performance that Button put in around the streets of Monaco at the weekend. There’s no doubt that the glitz, glamour and sheer opulence of the place make Monte Carlo one of the most famous F1 circuits in the world. Of course, it’s also notorious for being difficult to drive, as it’s a street circuit with lumps, bumps, narrow turn-in and very little room for correction should a driver make an error.
Jenson lead the race from the front of the grid and maintained control throughout, in what was an exceptionally poor race for McLaren, though Ferrari did manage to pick up some points with Raikkonen managing a third position.
Of course, it wasn’t just Jenson who did well over the weekend. A certain Mr Barrichello came second, meaning that for the third time this year the Brawn team secured a 1-2 podium position. Ross must be very pleased. Ferrari and McLaren won’t be. The next race is the Turkish Grand Prix (5-7th June).
