The BBC is reporting on the recent scare that Jenson Button suffered whilst in Brasil – following a session at the track Button saw gunmen on the road looking at him! Luckily the McLaren star escaped unhurt as his police driver put pedal to metal in order to escape the potentially lethal situation.
Race drivers are quite common targets for the men with guns from a variety of countries – they represent millions upon millions of pounds, are high profile and are moved from venues frequently meaning they are at risk. Perhaps the most famous of all was the 1958 kidnap of Juan Manuel Fangio in Cuba – luckily he was released 24 hours later!
