The Mitsubishi Evolution X is just about one of the most powerful cars on the road – particularly in the form of the FQ360 – which has exactly what is says in the name of (almost) 360 rampant horses to drag you around whichever ‘B’ road you’ve decided to terrorise that day. Try to stay out of the farmers fields though.
The Evo X is a revolution – having many more advantages even than the 9th iteration of the car. Not least is the ability to take perhaps even more power and put that power down even faster. This has been shown in the Britcar 24hr race, where an uprated Evolution X took part tuned to 400hp. For those of you wanting to know the result of the car, it took a respectable 5th in class and a 25th position overall.
Naturally, this success has led to more than talk from Mitsubishi, who have said that we can look forward to a FQ400 – but there aren’t any firm details yet. Rest assured though when it does arrive you’ll have about a 3.5 second time to 60mph and a 170mph top speed (after all, it’s built for acceleration). Of course, you’ll want the bigger brakes and uprated suspension too if you’re going to hoon around like an idiot.
Should you get one at the likely price of £45,000? I’m not convinced. As if the FQ360 isn’t fast enough…
