At Silverstone, Saturday 30th May 2015, after the 2015 Avon Tyres British GT Championship qualifying session, the pit gates opened to motorsport fans and the general public to support #getontrack campaign in aid of BEN, the automotive industry charity and Racing4MND.
Everyone was given the opportunity to walk, run and cycle the iconic 3.66 mile GP circuit and were set on their way by BEN’s client Will Murphy who was invited as a VIP guest of British GT. Over £600 was raised on the evening in aid of both charities.
Team GPRM’s driver Richard Williams, who helped organise the event on our behalf was thrilled with the outcome as much as us. “It was great seeing so many people turn out to support BEN and Racing4MND; I was a little bit overwhelmed actually.
“The British GT family has really got behind the cause, so I’d like to thank them and Silverstone for helping us organise #getontrack. Seeing the look on kids’ faces as they charged off the line was a fantastic moment. It’s an opportunity that’s seldom available to the general public and, having received such a positive reaction, we’re already discussing ways of improving it for next time.”
Nigel Williams, BEN’s Head of Business Innovation commented: “What a wonderful experience and great event, I felt very honoured to be involved and took my turn around the track. Huge thanks go to Silverstone, Team GPRM and British GT who helped put together this unique event and raise funds for two worthy charities. Last but not least, my thanks go to everyone who took part and help make the day a very special one for our own client, Will Murphy.”
