My Car Check Tips For Aug/Sept 2015

August 26, 2015 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

Audi A1

My Car Check – the UK’s No.1 consumer vehicle data provider – has saved millions of people from making an expensive used car mistake. In these monthly bulletins its used car experts reveal significant trends in the UK market and choose a ‘car of the month’.

Head of Valuation Services at My Car Check, Gavin Amos, said: “The Audi A1 is an affordable way into the brand that everyone wants on their drive. Early examples still look fresh and competitive finance packages on new ones mean there’s an A1 to suit most budgets. The diesel variants offer great economy while remaining fun to drive. When it comes to negotiating, remember, as well as revealing a car’s history, My Car Check also provides vehicle valuations – a great tool for haggling with dealers or private sellers.”

As to market trends, Amos said: “It is natural for forecourts to be a little quieter during the holiday season. Some main dealers have already shifted their focus away from used cars towards ramping up orders for new 65 plate vehicles.

“New car sales continue to increase month on month but good used stock is still proving difficult to come by. Many traders are picking up older stock, five years plus, at what seems to be the right money, only to find there are hidden costs when it comes to preparing them. In today’s super-competitive market, the days of finding bargains that deliver massive profits are all but over.

“There was a worrying news story recently regarding control of a Jeep Renegade being hacked remotely. With manufacturers bringing ever more technically connected vehicles to market, and driverless cars on the horizon, we are likely to see more of this kind of thing. As to the impact in terms of used values, there is a parallel to be drawn with the introduction of air conditioning. Models with driver aids and connectivity could become much more desirable, with the opposite true for those lacking these mod cons.”

My Car Check’s parent company, CDL Vehicle Information Services, performs over a million look-ups a day for companies including AutoExpress, CompareTheMarket, Go-Compare, Moneysupermarket, Swiftcover, Tesco Compare and WhatCar?.

It uses up-to-the-minute data from the police, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), the Association of British Insurers (ABI) and all major finance houses, including Lloyds TSB and Santander.

To help UK consumers make the right choice, My Car Check can confirm in seconds whether your potential pride and joy has ever been scrapped, stolen or written-off, has any money owing on it, has had a plate or colour change and much more.
