Caterham has a tradition of producing lightweight, compact two seater sports cars for the road and track. One thing that has been lacking in the lineup is a budget option, which is where this hot new confirmed car steps in. It is a base model Seven and will follow the tried and tested formula of ‘adding lightness’ for outstanding performance whilst giving keen drivers a proper thrill. It is likely this new model will be priced under £20,000.
Caterham Cars CEO, Graham Macdonald, said: “As we celebrate our 40th anniversary at Caterham, it feels good to be taking the brand right back to where it started. Colin Chapman designed the original Seven to be entirely ‘fit-for-purpose’ – a racing car for the road with the driving experience at its heart.”
