Introduction
I’m a big fan of fuel system cleaning. The problem with combustion engines is that they are dirty. They emit pollutants, they use fossil fuels etc. That’s not all – inside of the engine can become dirty too. This is where Wynn’s Xtreme Petrol System Clean comes in. The label states that it is a ‘powerful one tank clean up’ and it is suitable for all hybrid engines.
The concept behind fuel system cleaners is nothing new. Due to the build up of fuel, grease and deposits, over time direct injection engines can become less efficient. The injectors get clogged and rather than a clean injection profile it can be a sputter. The product contains PEA (polyetheramine) which is a chemical used to remove stubborn deposits from the fuel system, combustion chamber and turbo outlet. The result should be greater fuel economy, reduced exhaust emissions and a slight increase in performance.
Administration
The use of Wynn’s Xtreme Petrol System Clean is extremely simple. Just make sure it is the right product for your car, open carefully and decant in the same way you would normally add fuel. The top lid is secured well by a press in cap and it even has a little nib to puncture the aluminium foil top. It’s worth noting that you’ll need a 1/2 tank of petrol at least (20-30 litres) and that one bottle can treat up to 50 litres of petrol. It is designed to be used every 3,000 miles to keep the engine running as smoothly as possible.
Impact on the car
I’ve only just used the product, so it’ll need a little time before I’ll be able to confirm the results of the test of this product. However, having used these products in the past I do think that they can help. They also cost a tiny fraction of the price of a professional injector clean. Having looked at the forums, some regular users will suggest a very long run (100+ miles) or a good B road blast to allow the engine to get really hot. I’m more of an eco-driver so I’ll see how that works out.
Conclusion
In this day and age of expensive fuel prices, I don’t think it hurts to look after the engine of your car in the best way that you can. That being the case, give this product a go. It might well save a bit in the long run and it is very simple to use. You can buy this product from http://www.halfords.com/motoring.
