Yet another supermini crossover marvel has made it to the market and this time it’s the Captur from Renault. From only £12,495 on the road this is some impressively stylish motoring at a sensible price. The core model is also extremely good value, as the base (expression) spec includes 16” alloy wheels, 60/40 split and sliding rear seat bench, body coloured bumpers, cruise control, ECO mode (up to 10% fuel saving), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), ETC (Electronic Traction Control), front and rear electric windows, HSA (Hill Start Assist), speed limiter and trip computer.
Captur’s simple four version range is powered by a series of all turbo petrol and diesel engines, all of which have either been recently launched or revised. They include the 0.9-litre TCe 90 and 1.5 dCi 90, through to the brand new 1.2 TCe 120, mated exclusively to EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) transmission, which has only just debuted in Clio GT-Line.
This cool supermini may have the looks but don’t expect any off-road ability. The new Evoque it isn’t. However, if you’re after an interesting looking car at an extremely reasonable price point then you could do worse than the Captur. Most reviews seem to have come back fairly positive too. Whether it’s for you – that’s up to you to decide. We at Car Articles think that it’s more sensible and interesting than the Clio, but not quite as good looking.
