In a rare departure for our ‘Something For The Weekend’ series, we at Car Articles have decided to turn our focus to a car not yet on release. The reason for this change is that we have such high hopes for the Arteon and what it should mean for Volkswagen. Whilst the German marque had a previously golden reputation, the emissions scandal (you can read the statement here from the start) put somewhat of a dent in this.
Consistency is the key to a brand that has suffered from challenging times; in the motor vehicle market this means producing good products that are held in high regard by consumers, business and the press alike. With that in mind, the Volkswagen Arteon offers what is being marketed as a ‘premium mid class’ fastback.
So what can we expect from this new car? Well at the moment most of the press information that is being offered forward relates to Autonomous Driving. Driver Assistance (Lane departure, Emergency Assist, Side Assist, Adaptive Cruise control and much more) will feature hugely. This will serve two functions. The first is that it should offer an incredibly safe driving experience. The second is that the Arteon should offer some of the most stress free driving around.
Ample leg and head room will be offered across all seats – something of a first for this body style apparently. There is an all new for Volkswagen front end, in which the LED headlights and daytime running lights merge with the chrome-plated crossbars of the radiator grille and the bonnet. The car’s striking shoulder section is another defining feature of its design.
Whilst we accept that very little is known about the Volkswagen Arteon so far, we believe it’ll be released sometime toward the end of this year and it could well be a game changer. Watch this space for more information as we get it.
