The 33rd Italian Car Day will be held at the Brooklands Museum in Surrey on Saturday 5th May 2018. With more than 6,500 visitors last year, this annual event is the largest gathering of Italian cars in the UK – and possibly the largest outside Italy.
The event is open to all Italian car owners, who park up with similar models and become part of the display. For an idea of the size and scope of this unmissable event, a must-do for all Italian car lovers, browse the huge range of pictures at: www.flickr.com/photos/michaelwardphotos/albums/72157683156313156.
2018 will be a milestone as it marks the completion of improvements to the Brooklands Museum infrastructure. The relocation of the Bellman hangar has freed up much-needed display space and provides an uninterrupted view of the former race track start and finish straight from the paddock, all the way up the banking. The restored hangar is now home to the ‘Aircraft Factory’, which houses a superb display of part-restored aircraft and artefacts (Check out the P1127 Harrier prototype suspended from the ceiling!).
Also new for this year is a dedicated entrance for all Alfa Romeo and Abarth owners via The Heights. It’s highly recommended that all Italian car owners pre-book their discounted entry tickets through the Brooklands website at www.brooklandsmuseum.com as, in addition to the cost saving, Italian cars arriving via the Brooklands Road entrance will enjoy fast-track entry. There will also be parking for non-Italian marques via Mercedes-Benz World.
An action-packed programme includes the demonstration of selected cars on the Mercedes-Benz World circuit and the challenging Test Hill. The theme for the track entry this year is supercars and Italian classics, while the Test Hill entry is pre-booked and open to all Italian cars (although some spaces might be available on the day). Owners of suitable cars are invited to apply for consideration to organiser Phil Ward.
