Sky News is reporting that Northern England is now being hit by flooding across various counties. As the weather seems to be spreading north, this has given an opportunity for those in the south to assess what the damage has been so far. There are almost 200 flood warnings in place across the country and 300 flood alerts.
Moral of the story? The weather at the moment is at best making for poor driving conditions and at worst they are positively dangerous. Do not go into flood risk areas unless you absolutely must, and warn particularly vulnerable people including the elderly of the potential for finding themselves in serious danger as flood water levels can rise very rapidly.
Keep some essential supplies in your car if you do have to go out and regularly listen in for weather bulletins.
Please stay safe out there everyone.
