Maserati – a true Italian marque that has racing pedigree and a truly desirable line in cars. For some, the Levante SUV was a bit of a shock. Too much of a departure from GT and sports cars that the brand has been producing for years. Those in the know however, never doubted that Maserati would produce some top trumps. That is exactly what they did with the Levante.
Perhaps the only thing that was missing was a petrol engine. Granted, whilst an overwhelming majority of UK SUV buyers go for diesel for the torque, those with serious cash will often want a big, multi cylindered petrol powered car to show off with. Nothing wrong with that. Luckily, Maserati responded and now you can have exactly that.
How about a V6, 430hp, 3.0-litre twin turbo petrol engine built by Ferrari that boasts a top speed of 164mph and 0– 62mph in just 5.2 seconds? Yes, we thought you might like the sound of that. Granted, the V8 from the Ferrari California might have seemed like an obvious choice, but frankly that much power might seem even gauche in this SUV. No, we think the V6 is an excellent choice and will provide more than enough power and torque to put a smile on just about any driver’s face.
The Levante S, will start at just over £70 grand on the road and can be further personalised with a wide range of optional equipment including a Zegna Mulberry Silk interior!
The Levante S will be available in the UK from September 2017, with more information available at www.maserati.co.uk.
