Well, it’s that time again. I’m another year older though it could be argued no more wiser than I was previously! Nonetheless, I like to consider around my birthday what I’d like to drive, for one hour, on any track or road. This year, as the picture shows, I’d like to drive the McLaren MP4-12C.
Whilst purists might say that the Ferrari 458 Italia is not only comparable but the better drive, the McLaren is a wonderfully capable machine. It can set extremely rapid lap times, looks supremely aggressive and has some of the best minds in British engineering behind it. For this reason, I’m sure that James May will be behind me when I say that we should all be proud of what the McLaren Automotive team have achieved.
So, where to drive it? Well, I’d like nothing more than to give an MP4-12C a sound thrashing around Silverstone. It would seem in fitting and would provide a suitably adrenaline fuelled way to round off celebrations…
