Lance Stroll Set To Appear At Autosport International 2017

January 6, 2017 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

Rookie Williams driver, Lance Stroll, will be attending Autosport International on Saturday 14th January 2017.

Stroll will be the first Canadian F1 driver since Jacques Villeneuve, who left the sport in 2006, when he takes to the grid in Melbourne

The 18-year-old, who started karting in 2008, has gone on to win the 2014 Italian Formula 4 Championship, the 2015 Toyota Racing Series and the 2016 European Formula 3 title, while progressing through the Williams Young Driver Programme.

He will be appearing on the Autosport Stage to talk about his championship win, his time so far with Williams and his anticipation before taking part in his first grand prix in Australia in March.

Sunday will see Williams’ head of performance engineering and long-term race engineer to Felipe Massa, Rob Smeddley, interviewed on the Autosport Stage. With a long and established career in motorsport, it is sure to be a fascinating, anecdote-filled slot.

These appearances will form part of Williams’ 40th anniversary celebrations at the show in Birmingham later this month.

Claire Williams, deputy team principal, who will also be attending the show on Sunday 15th January, said: “We are pleased to confirm that Lance Stroll and Rob Smedley will be joining our 40th anniversary celebrations at Autosport International. It’s a great opportunity for fans to hear from Lance, and meet him, before he takes to the grid for the first time in Australia.”

The anniversary celebrations will give fans the opportunity to immerse themselves in four decades of Williams heritage – from when the team was established by Sir Frank Williams and Patrick Head in 1977 right up to Williams Martini Racing of 2017 – as part of an interactive centerpiece that will also see a complete overhaul of the Autosport Stage.

In addition to this, Williams will be bringing a fascinating collection of its famous heritage cars including the FW07 which gave Williams its first victory, Nigel Mansell’s 1992 Drivers’ Championship-winning FW14B, Damon Hill’s 1996 Drivers’ Championship-winning FW18 and the 2003 Monaco GP-winning FW25.

The 2017 Autosport International show takes place from 12-15 January at the Birmingham NEC. Tickets for the event, which covers every aspect of motorsport from karting to Formula One and also engineering, are on sale now and can be purchased from http://www.autosportinternational.com.
