A survey carried out by Motorpoint, the UK’s leading Car Supermarket has shown that a staggering 83% of British motorists believe that car manufacturers are exaggerating the efficiency levels of their vehicles.
The Car Supermarket giant conducted the poll on their website – www.motorpoint.co.uk– and received over 2,000 responses from visitors to the site.
Over the past few years Motorpoint have noticed a trend towards the purchase of vehicles that produce more miles per gallon. From 2010 to 2012 the average fuel efficiency of cars sold by Motorpoint jumped from 49mpg to 54mpg. This means it is imperative that manufacturer’s state easily achievable efficiency levels with their vehicles so that consumers may make the best decision for themselves.
Across their five UK sites and on their website Motorpoint display urban, extra urban and combined values of fuel efficiency on vehicles as part of their open and honest attitude to sales.
Says David Shelton, Motorpoint Managing Director: “As fuel prices continue to soar, fuel efficiency is becoming a more important factor in the choice of people’s next vehicle. Our poll shows how important it is that motorists get accurate MPG figures from their cars. Over 2,000 votes clearly show that consumers feel strongly about this issue. Some of the best deals on fuel efficient cars at Motorpoint are in the shape of these 10 plate Nissan Pixo 1.0 N-Tec 5DR for £5,499, which all have under 15,000 miles on the clock– a saving of £2,758. All have a metallic paint finish in a variety of colours and have an efficiency of 64 miles per gallon.
