The RAC is reporting that new Transport Bill for Scotland may well mean the ending of pavement parking for motorists. Whilst some may think that they are helping the flow of traffic on narrow streets, for others such as wheelchair users or people with prams/children’s buggies this can cause a serious impediment. This could mean that the especially vulnerable or forced onto the road. We think that this is a common sense idea – as long as it is enforced with the same common sense.
The new Transport Bill will also see the creation of LEZ – Low Emission Zones – for Scotland. The idea behind them, much as they are used in London and other cities, is to reduce the amount of vehicle based pollution in the air. Drivers of non-Euro 6 diesel cars and highly polluting petrols may find a hit to their wallets. We find it hard to argue with a move that is good for the planet and also good for the health of people. In saying that, where will the money raised go? Do you think it would go on new tech such as carbon traps? Answers as always are welcome in the comments section…
