Outsmart the Car Thieves with a Car Tracking Device
So you can’t take your eyes off her!
Her curvy features never cease to fascinate you!
Her silky body and lustrous colors make you spell bound every time you behold her!
Oh, don’t take it the wrong way! We don’t mean your girlfriend! We are only talking about the latest toy in your garage!
Being obsessed with your new car is all right, but you can not forget the safety factor. When it comes to ensuring the maximum safety of your car, take the help of the very latest technologies and install a tracking device in your car.
Vehicle security technology has gone far beyond a selection of auto alarms. While they are good at providing safety for your car they are not foolproof; the smart car thieves can run away with your car under your nose by cracking even the most sophisticated security systems. Even before the police can reach out to the thief, various parts of your car may already have been shipped to countries like India and China where the parts will be melted separately as junk metals.
What a terrible fate for your pretty car, isn’t it? It gives you shiver at the very thought of it, doesn’t it? Cheer up…there is a way to ensure a safe future for the apple of your eye! A car tracking device can help you reunite with your darling even after it has been stolen.
So what is a car tracking device?
Other car security systems provide you with an anti theft solution but if your car is stolen in spite of that, then the tracking device takes centre stage and helps the police track and recover your car. Thus it provides the ultimate part of your anti-theft measures.
Learn beforehand about the monetary involvement
Just like your monetary obligation doesn’t end with buying the mobile handset, in the same way buying the tracking product is only the first step. You have to pay a monthly service fee to keep the tracking service.
You have mainly two options when you have a tight budget
1. The most popular tracking device in UK is called Tracker that neither employs GPS nor charges a monthly fee. Depending on two devices – a transponder and a receiver—this device is activated after you inform the police about the theft.
2. Option two relates to midrange systems, such as the Teletracer which also does not use the GPS, but transmits a signal ultimately received by a central monitoring station. You have to pay a monthly fee for Teletracer.
GPS tracking system – a little more investment but lot more safety
With a GPS (Global Positioning System) car tracking system, a car can be tracked on a computer map at a central monitoring station. Some of the systems come with the feature of verbal communication with the operator at the central station. This feature comes to great help particularly in the instances of car jacking.
The higher end car tracking services act on a proactive basis if the operators find the vehicle running at an odd hour through an odd place, they will contact the owner by phone to confirm that the owner of the vehicle is aware of its whereabouts. Otherwise the police are informed immediately.
With a rather high product price and monthly rental service charges, car trackers are no doubt expensive. But remember, they are among the most effective security systems available today.
So don’t compromise security for money. After all your insurer may well offer up to 10% off the premium if they know your vehicle has a tracking device.

August 8, 2007 at 12:15 pmYou don’t have to have a GPS tracker installed, you could wear one or just drop one in the boot for the journey. Blue Tree Services (click my name to get to the website) provides a personal GPS tracker. It’s wearable, so it’s not limited to in-car use.
gps tracking for cars is bad says
February 28, 2008 at 1:44 amGPS tracking is daft if you value your car as low power gps jammers are available online for as little as 50 quid. so if u fit GPS tracker to your car and it gets nicked, chances are it wont ever appear on a map anywhere ever again if the theif has one of these with them. and trust me they dont carry tennis balls and screwdrives any more its more like laptops pda’s jammers and cs gas.

October 13, 2008 at 6:18 amI assume these devices are similar to those the police use to discover where a vehicle is stopping etc. But presumably before fitting such a device to a vehicle of an unsuspecting owner the police have to have this passed by the surveillance commissioner otherwise it would be illegal and any information they discovered about say which phones the driver stopped at, would be useless to them, especially useless if the phone user anyway was perfectly open about their phone calls.

January 11, 2009 at 12:01 pmHi James,
Isn’t it in South Africa (I think) where you can use rather more proactive methods of protecting your car? I’m sure I saw something about a vehicle retro-fitted with a flame thrower type device? 🙂
I’m sure that a 20k volt dump capacitor would work just as well, as long as one doesn’t forget that it is there…

May 4, 2009 at 10:08 amJust so you know, wiring your car exterior to any voltage is illegal, and you could prog get more busted than any car thief ever would. The scenarios being what if an OAP was going to fall and reached out for the door handle, what if they had a pacemaker, etc.
Or what if it was a little kid brushing past it?
I Heard that someone did indeed get busted for doing just that and an innocent getting hurt by it.

May 6, 2009 at 7:43 pmHi BillyBob,

May 20, 2009 at 6:28 pmHi James,
I’m not sure there’s anything on the market that will get around that, but I can’t imagine it’s much of a problem in the UK. Try your specialist dealerships and see if they offer anything.

May 21, 2009 at 5:38 pmJust dont use the company TRACKER as they are low life scum. my car has been stolen and on the day of it being stolen going through al my documents i find inside the owners manual a small sticker saying your car is fitted with a tracker.
I phoned them and asked how do i activate it, they said we just take your name card details reg number and press a button, then they tell me we know where your car is but because you have owned your car for more than 2 months were not going to activate it.
the police spoke to them and they told the police the same information and that if they wanted to find the car they could and it dont cost nothing but they are refussing to aid in the help of finding a carfitted with a tracker and refussing to aid the police in there investigation even though the police believe if they find this car stolen to order they will find many others.
Tracker are still refussing to help any just refunding my money they took off my card.

My question is ..Is it legal.. for this company to track all my movements wihout my consent.. suppose if they told me that this was for security? I am a bit worried as to this company’s intentions… Any one out with legal knowledge!!

December 29, 2009 at 3:36 pmI bought a Sentinel Gps tracker from http://www.trackershop-uk.com its got magnets so I just stick it under the car when I need to use it. When I want to know where it is I just phone it and it texts back its location, that’s the only cost the price of a text message. Apparently it works across the world.

May 26, 2010 at 1:13 pmI used this company and found their apporach to my needs very helpful, I pay £4.99 per month for UK coverage but I know they had a Global cost of £6.99 per month as well.
The trackers are very small so hard to detect by a theif.

June 18, 2010 at 10:54 amWe are Defender Direct Ltd, and offer a tracking solution which is far superior to any others on the market today.
Our system is an “Always-Alert” system, so unlike other products, you do not have to activate it when the car has been stolen. Once armed, we inform you if the car moves! Then in conjunction with the police, we use our unique “EngineSTOP” function that deactivates the engine as soon as the car goes under 10 miles per hour. So no harsh stingers, we simply deactivate the engine. No other system can deactivate a moving vehicle.
We have a 100% stop & recovery rate, and in 94% of cases, the Police are sat behind the car when it is stopped. So the thieves are arrested as well. If you value your car, its worth doing.
Contact me on 07500 136455 for more details.

June 29, 2010 at 8:05 pmWrong Kev Jackson – You can buy GPS trackers from china that have GPRS and SMS notification, alarm loop inputs and several switched outputs, vibration sensors, microphone input, geo fencing/alert, movement alert, speed parameter alert etc etc for £75 A spotty teenager can wire the outputs via supplied relay to disable an ignition (which you can activate via SMS) There is no subscription and yes they are built well and work.
Its high time someone in the UK government puts an entire halt to the barage of low cost gear coming in from the land on employment abuse but untill then you probably won’t but should be out of business because you can’t compete with a bowl of rice a week labour.
See you at the job centre !!
Kev Jackson says
June 30, 2010 at 10:45 amI agree Andy – to be honest you can buy pretty much anything from China and the like, but thats not the service that we are offering. I accept that the spotty teenager could fit something like this made up of bits bought via the internet, but what we offer a guaranteed supply & fit of a quality italian made tracker that is fitted to quality cars, and monitored by our call centre in York, 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year. We guarantee our product for a full 5 years, and have agreement from the UK Police Federation around the procedures for stopping a vehicle – its dangerous and illegal to fit something that can stop a vehicle at over 10 miles an hour. I wouldn’t want to have my car engine immobilised when it was doing 70 (ish!) miles an hour!
Look at the major players in this market – Tracker, i-mob, cobratrak5, etc and you’ll see that none of them do engine de-activation, only us.
Our market is based around the ‘non-spotty teenagers’ in hot hatches, and more around the BMW, Mercedes, Lexus drivers who wish to protect their outlay on a prestigious car. Based on the numbers we are doing at the minute, its unlikely I’ll be down the jobcentre, and I hope that you won’t be too!!!

Have a look at this website

My take on this is they can’t monitor you private mileage without you giving your consent. I have no intention of doing this!
