It is being widely reported that during George Osborne’s Autumn Statement it will be announced that the humble British tax disc (beloved by motorists everywhere or not) is likely to go the distance. Instead, vehicles will be registered and vehicle excise license – or road fund if you prefer – will be paid for perhaps even on a monthly basis.
Further reports will add that ANPR (Automated Number Plate Recognition) cameras will be able to monitor cars on the road in order to establish if they are correctly taxed. This is of course part of a wider trend to reduce administration to keep costs down as well as simplify processes to make life better.
So what do you think of the tax disc being consigned to history? Answers as always in the comments section please.
