Whilst the list is predictable – it is for a reason. Every car in the list is either good already or has recently had a update to make it fresh and new. You’re not going to be suprised, but it may well put a smile on your face as the odds are you own one of these:
1 Ford Focus
2 Vauxhall Corsa
3 Ford Fiesta
4 Vauxhall Astra
5 Volkswagen Golf
6 Peugeot 207
7 BMW 3 Series
8 Ford Mondeo
9 Vauxhall Zafira
10 Vauxhall Vectra
I’ve got two picks of the bunch – the Focus for great driving dynamics, an engaging drive and versatility. My second pick is the Mondeo, it’s a real grown-up car that has space, ability and if you go for the ST model a nice bit of power to boot. Fancy fuel economy too? Go for the diesel.
My own ‘quick pick’ would be a Vauxhall Corsa VXR. It is comfortable, should be reliable and offers a blistering time of 0-60 in 6.8 seconds. Whilst the exterior is not to everyone’s tastes (it hardly looks like a shrinking violet), the Euro NCAP rating of 5 stars and all round package make it one not to miss.

January 17, 2009 at 4:59 pmMy pick would be the Mondeo. despite recent arrivals to the lower medium sector(laguna – so dull, C5 wow pretty and availble with normal suspension though please drop the annoying “it could be german” ads, Insignia -great step up in quality and ride but oh how ugly is the grill, New Avensis – photocopy of the Insignia but at least you’ll know it’ll never break down, Accord – great to drive but another one that swallowed the ugly grill pill) However, in its 3rd year the Mondeo is still such a good looking car. My personal favoutite is the2.0Tdci Titanium X sport estate. the engine is brisk and frugal. the skirts make it look fab, interior is excellent, though the seats for me are a bit hard, and super equipment levels. Even the voice recognition stuff works. then to top it off are those alloys. We should have known it would be a greta car, afterall james Bond drove it
Cool bananas

January 18, 2009 at 6:26 pmThanks for the comment Martin, I’d agree that the Mondeo is a very good choice. If we were sticking with Fords I would like a Ford Focus ST!
