One of the UK’s leading classic car insurance brokers has launched a competition to win a restored Morris Traveller.
Specialist insurance broker Footman James has teamed up with Classics Monthly to offer one lucky enthusiast the chance to win the 1968 Morris Traveller De-Luxe.
The competition was officially launched at the 2013 Classic Motor Show at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre. The car was displayed on the Footman James stand, where the Classics Monthly team began the restoration process and drawing the crowds.
The car was originally bought in 2009 by enthusiast Keith Hibbert; partly restored, the car’s history makes for fascinating reading. Built on 15 February 1968, it was despatched on 23 February to Stewart and Ardern Ltd in Acton, London, earning it the UMK registration mark for Middlesex. Its last tax disc expired in August 1993 and was issued in Market Deeping, Peterborough. Amazingly, according to the BMH certificate, the engine is original.
Keith undertook extensive repairs throughout the bodyshell, culminating in solid floors and beautifully restored wood interiors. Work still to be done includes a full respray and fettling of a number of gaps.
The competition will run until October 2014; the winner will be unveiled at the 2014 Classic Motor Show the following month with – on completion – an estimated market value of approximately £7,000.
Andy Fairchild, Footman James’ Managing Director said: “We are delighted to be involved in such an exciting restoration project. Restoring such a classic is any enthusiast’s dream and we look forward to charting the restoration progress throughout 2014. Entry to the competition is easy – you could be months away from owning a beautifully renovated Morris Traveller!”
