A Car I love… #2

Whilst we at Car Articles love our sports models, we also praise vehicles for a wide variety of reasons. One of those is practicality and another is good design. The 2015 Volvo XC90 is the safest that the iconic Swedish marque has ever produced. That’s quite some claim considering that the original XC90 only had one confirmed fatality during the production lifetime of 2002 to 2014.

Seven seaters can quite often look bulky, with uninspired lines and a very much box based profile. This premium SUV eschews that in favour of creating something with bold design, a striking yet practical exterior and an interior that is hugely classy. Gone are the staid old trim levels in favour of Momentum, R-Design and Inscription.

Whilst £45,000 might seem like a high starting OTR (on the road) price, when you see a 2015 Volvo XC90 you’ll agree it really isn’t. This is a go-almost-anywhere car with waft along capability or mud plugging terrain holding. Go for the highest powered T8 Twin Engine and you can go from 0-62 in less than six seconds. In a car that weighs in at over 2,200 kilos that’s really rather impressive.

It’s fair to say that the Volvo XC90 will never be the quickest around a track. That being said, few cars will be able to match the level of comfort, style, safety and space that this (albeit massive) road king offers. Volvo, we salute you.
