The diminutive little Fiat has won yet another award, this time it’s the 2009 Design Car of the Year which was voted for by 59 journalists around the world. The 500 beat off competition from more than 50 other cars from a variety of manufacturers.
Finalists for the award included the new Citroen C5, the Fiat 500 and the Jaguar XF (which seems to be winning just about everything out there at the moment), with the judging taking place at the New York International Motor Show.
There’s no doubt that the Fiat 500 breaks the mould and offers something completely different. It’s a great little number, but I actually prefer the Alfa Romeo MiTo. I’ve only seen two so far, but one of them was in a vibrant yellow and looked stunning. Nonetheless, the Fiat 500 is a commendable winner.
