Fuel Sales Drop Massively

October 8, 2011 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

Auto Express has a new article on how sales of petrol and diesel have slumped. The drop has been a total of £1.7 billion litres in the first six months of 2011. The biggest shock? A loss of £1 billion for the treasury. This just highlights exactly how much is taken by HMRC from fuel […]

Winter Is Coming, So Check These Five Important Things

October 6, 2011 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

Poor weather is on the way. This includes wind, rain and there’s a forecast for snow this month too (I know, after this sunny reprieve as well!). Cars do not simply maintain themselves. With that in mind, here are five things I’d recommend checking regularly as we come into poorer weather and darker nights: 1) […]

BAC Mono Video Review By Autocar

October 5, 2011 by Mr Butterscotch 1 Comment

In this video, Autocar reviews the wonderful BAC Mono that I wrote about recently. Naturally, they love it. Watch the video to see just how much.

Poor Road Surfaces Still Getting You Down?

October 3, 2011 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

Here’s the latest from Carparts-Direct.co.uk regarding the wonderful state of British roads! Councils across the UK are shelling out every day to irate motorists. £200 is the average compensation for vehicles damaged by potholes. There were 22,000 successful claims last year alone. And it’s all taxpayers’ money. Shoddy road maintenance costs drivers 6 times more […]

Fifth Gear Legends Presents The Ford Lotus Cortina

October 2, 2011 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

If you don’t know much about car history, then you should watch all of the Fifth Gear Legends shows on youtube. This is of course the Ford Lotus Cortina, an (at the time) hot saloon car. Colin Chapman added lightness and Lotus fettled it with their driving ethos. It is a true legend of a […]

80MPH Speeds For The Motorway?

October 1, 2011 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

You may have seen that there’s been a discussion on the news as to whether the national speed limit should be raised to 80 miles per hour for motorways. Most people I’ve spoken to have been in agreement with this idea as many already drive (somewhat) higher than the current 70 miles per hour limit. […]

The BAC Mono – A Single Seat Supercar For The Road

September 30, 2011 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

I recently had the pleasure of attending the Volkswagen Racing Cup 2011 at Donnington Park, which was an absolutely great day out (article to follow shortly). Whilst there, I heard a rumour that a unique car would be on display. The vehicle in question was the BAC Mono. Just before the lunchtime break, I turned […]

A Designer Reworks The Ferrari 458 Italia

September 29, 2011 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

Olivier Demangel is a 3D artist. He’s created some concept redesigns of the Ferrari 458 Italia that are extremely pretty indeed. You can see them on his website. My favourite is the redesign in white, which looks almost like a mix between the Ferrari 458 Italia and the McLaren MP4-12C.

Why No Box Junction?

September 28, 2011 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

In my opinion, nothing can cause greater chaos on roads than when the layout has been poorly designed. The city in which I live has some road networks that appear to have been thought through by some sort of madman, what with car lanes, no car lanes and access routes crossing over each other at […]

A Red Bull Show Car Drives Off Road

September 26, 2011 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

If you’ve got an HD monitor, upgrade the video to high resolution. You’ll then be rewarded with the full experience of watching a Formula 1 car do some very fast and strange things, such as roaring around off road and doing donuts on a silent Texas street. Watch this, it’s a must if you like […]
