Well, according to my last post date, I haven’t filled up the car in 13 days. When I say filled up, I mean added any fuel at all. Whilst you could say that shouldn’t be surprising given that I’ve only managed 46 miles, it’s actually quite impressive. The reason being, most of those miles have been over fairly short 1-2 mile distances.
My daily commute involves taking the car to a local public transport car park, then getting either a bus or metro train to the town centre. Often, I’ll be in a bit of a rush. Nonetheless, I’ve still tried to maintain my economical driving style to really push how far I can go on the £12 or so that I added to the car.
I now realise that the 150 miles or so I was wanting is now looking like the fantasy of a Prius driver. It simply won’t happen. 100 miles though? Well, technically that should be possible, as I’ve done very close to half of that now.
Will my frustration win out though and my desire for a little more speed overtake (pardon the pun)? Only time will tell, but I can see how people could well get addicted to trying to better their own mpg rating…
