Just as Eddie Jordan predicted prior to the race, Lewis Hamilton put in a breathtaking performance in today’s Hungarian Grand Prix by cruising home to victory – swiftly followed by the Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen! Inside of the fourth lap, Hamilton managed to take first position – which he used to convincingly build up a lead over the rest of the pack. His win was certainly a dominant one and showed a return to form for the popular driver.
Kovaleinen similarly saw more fortune in today’s race; at one point it looked like he too was going to be heading for a podium before coming home in fifth position.
Perhaps the biggest shock of the race was the lack of performance from Jenson Button, who managed a rather lacklustre seventh place. Whatever the reasons, there’s no doubting the lead that Button has over every other driver, so it’ll take continued poor performance to ensure he doesn’t see the World Championship this year.
Felipe Massa wasn’t racing today, due to being in a very high speed crash during qualifying yesterday. It appears as though he was struck on the helmet by the damper spring from Rubens Barrichello’s Brawn car. This resulted in him spearing off the track and smashing into the barriers. Apparently, he has suffered a concussion and fractured skull. Massa, we wish you all the best and a speedy recovery.
